No dancin' but fishin', no smokin' but Rock 'N' roll, long live Brutus, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui  is a 1941 play by the German playwright Bertolt Brecht. It chronicles the rise of Arturo Ui, a fictional 1930s Chicago mobster, and his attempts to control the cauliflower racket by ruthlessly disposing of the opposition. The play is a satirical allegory of the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in Germany prior to World War II.

The Play:
Performed by Colorado State University's Department of Theatre students.  Directed by Walt Jones

Bertolt Brecht’s shudderingly accurate parallel between Hitler and his henchmen on the one hand, and the old crime lords of Chicago on the other, is a vigorous eye opener that was produced on Broadway with Christopher Plummer.

The Cauliflower Trust in Chicago is in need of help and turns to a racketeer by the name of Arturo Ui to begin a “protection” campaign. His henchmen look astonishingly like Goebbels and Goring. Their activities include “accidental” fires and a St. Valentine’s Day massacre.

Lines from the play are quoted at the end of Cross of Iron, a 1977 drama war film directed by Sam Peckinpah: "Do not rejoice in his defeat, you men. For though the world has stood up and stopped the bastard, the bitch that bore him is in heat again".

Personal Comments:
Whether it's nazism, racism or mafia, states, political lies, or militarism, the rules of the fascist game are always pretty much the same.

Briefly, that is the main point of this play and Brecht is absolutely right, ı agree with him.

Think about it, whenever cruel and ignorant fascism comes face to face with intellect, wisdom, and knowledge it desperately reacts always the very same way, violence, aggression, and hatred language, because that's the only language that it knows.

Fascism can not react to intellect with the opposite intellect because it's not simply capable of developing ideas, it can not produce antithesis against various certain theses and claims due to the fact it can not produce synthesis either. The only thing it can do is to grab the gun and fire its opponent or assaulting to the intellect directly through violence which is its typical primitive, aggressive, and masculine nature.
